Legal Aid & Awareness Camp

In a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering local communities through legal education, a Legal Aid & Awareness Camp was organized at the MIET campus for the residents of Village Amb. This event, held in collaboration with members of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to educate the community about their legal rights and obligations.

Esteemed Guests and Participants

The camp was graced by the presence of several esteemed legal experts, including:

  • Advocate Dr. Trishi Gupta – Member DLSA
  • Advocate Vijayandra Slathia
  • Advocate Uma Kapahi – Member DLSA
  • Advocate Vidushi Singh
  • Rajni Devi – Sarpanch, Amb Village

Their collective expertise and dedication provided invaluable insights and guidance to the attendees.

Key Highlights of the Camp

1. Legal Advice

Our dedicated team of legal experts provided personalized legal advice on a variety of issues, including property rights, family matters, and more. Each attendee received tailored guidance to address their specific legal concerns, ensuring that the advice was both relevant and practical.

2. Free Counselling Sessions

Professional counselling sessions were offered at no cost, providing clarity and support on various legal matters. These sessions aimed to demystify legal processes and empower attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate their legal challenges effectively.

3. Mediation Services

To promote peaceful resolutions, mediation services were made available to help resolve disputes amicably without resorting to lengthy legal proceedings. This initiative emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in conflict resolution.

4. Legal Awareness Sessions

Our team conducted several awareness sessions to educate the community about their legal rights and responsibilities. These sessions highlighted the legal protections available to them, fostering a more informed and empowered community.

Impact on Law Students at MIET

The event was also a tremendous learning opportunity for our law students at MIET. By actively participating in the help desks and assisting attendees with their legal queries, the students gained hands-on experience in providing legal aid. This practical exposure allowed them to:

  • Understand the nuances of legal counselling
  • Engage in mediation processes
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios

This experience has significantly enhanced their understanding of the legal process and deepened their commitment to community service.

Conclusion

The Legal Aid & Awareness Camp at MIET is more than just an event; it is a step towards creating a brighter, more informed future for the next generation. By empowering the community with knowledge of their legal rights and preparing our students to be the torchbearers of justice, we are fostering a safer and more equitable society.

Through initiatives like this, we reaffirm our commitment to justice, education, and community service. We look forward to organizing more such events in the future to continue our mission of empowering communities through legal awareness.
