Awareness Session on Drug Abuse and De-Addiction Policies
The School of Law at MIET, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jammu, hosted an insightful Awareness Session on “Issues of Drug Abuse and De-Addiction Schemes/Policies in the State.” The session aimed to educate students about the severe implications of drug abuse and the government’s initiatives to address this challenge.
Resource Person:
Adv. Ifra Nasir, Advocate at J&K High Court and DLSA Panel Member, shared her expertise on the multifaceted aspects of drug abuse, its psychological and social impacts, and the legal framework under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. She also provided a comprehensive overview of de-addiction policies and rehabilitation measures.

- Legal Provisions: Discussed penalties for drug-related offenses and the supportive legal mechanisms for rehabilitation.

The event, coordinated by Vishakha, with support from MIET SOL, emphasized the importance of awareness and collective action to combat drug abuse. The session was supported by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Prof. Sahil Sawhney, and Prof. Sunita Zalpuri Koul, ensuring its success.
